25th June, 2021. We conducted step down training for our peer educators at the office. We built their capacity for them to be able to support our target young people in accessing comprehensive sexual education, knowledge on Harmful Practices, Sexual reproductive health and right services.
After which we implemented the activities in selected communities which includes; Dawaki, Gwagwalada, Kpaduma, Lugbe and Apo resettlement, with in the federal capital territory.
The amazing teenagers in these communities benefited a lot from the training. At the end of the training they were able to make informed choices on their sexual lives and body. The chiefs who were very welcoming, expressed their joy for having us around while commending our good works, told us that prior to our coming, there has been numerous rape cases, unwanted pregnancies among teenagers, child marriage, increased maternal death and wrong choices made by their teens.
Many thanks to Society for Family Health, UNESCO and Spotlight Initiative for making this possible.
